Arsenal's pursuit of Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori has hit a snag as his former club, Basel, could stand in the way. Bologna, who only signed Calafiori last year for £4.34 million, are negotiating with Basel over a sell-on fee. The Swiss club inserted a 50% sell-on clause into Calafiori's contract.
Bologna is requesting around £42.2 million for Calafiori, who has only been with the Italian club for a year. Arsenal had agreed to pay £37.7 million for the 19-year-old left-back, but Basel's sell-on clause could complicate the deal.
