Andy Warhol's Last Supper Series Marks Anniversary

Celebrations in Milan

Exhibition and Educational Programs

WEB The Last Supper is a series of paintings created by the pop artist Andy Warhol (1929-1987) between 1984 and 1986 based on the famed Last Supper c. 1495-1498 by Leonardo da Vinci. More than 60 silkscreens, paintings, and works on paper from the collections of Peter Brant, the Brant Foundation, and the Andy Warhol Museum will be on display in Milan, Italy, to mark the 30th anniversary of the series' debut in the city.

The exhibition, titled "Andy Warhol: The Last Supper," will be held at the prestigious Palazzo Reale from September 21, 2023, to January 15, 2024. It will showcase Warhol's unique interpretations of da Vinci's masterpiece, featuring variations in color, scale, and technique.

In addition to the exhibition, a comprehensive educational program will be offered, including guided tours, lectures, and workshops. The program aims to provide visitors with insights into Warhol's artistic process, the significance of the Last Supper motif in his work, and the broader context of pop art in the 1980s.

The anniversary celebration is a testament to the enduring legacy of Andy Warhol and his groundbreaking artistic vision. The Last Supper series, with its interplay of iconic imagery and consumer culture, continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
