Colts Ot And Former Draft Pick Jake Witt Announces Retirement

Colts' OT and Former First-Round Pick Jake Witt Announces Retirement

A Career Cut Short

Jake Witt, the former first-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, has announced his retirement from the NFL at the age of 28. Witt, who was drafted 29th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, played four seasons with the Colts before being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. He was released by the Jaguars after the 2021 season and has not played since.

Injuries and Setbacks

Witt's career was plagued by injuries, which ultimately led to his decision to retire. He missed all of the 2018 season with a torn ACL and MCL, and he also missed significant time in 2019 and 2020 with various other injuries. In total, Witt played in just 42 of a possible 80 games during his four seasons in Indianapolis.

Witt's retirement is a reminder of the残酷 nature of professional sports. Even the most talented athletes can see their careers cut short by injuries. We wish Jake Witt all the best in his future endeavors.

Colts' Statement

The Colts released a statement thanking Witt for his contributions to the team.

"We would like to thank Jake for his contributions to the Colts organization," the statement said. "He was a talented player who worked hard and always gave his best. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

What's Next for the Colts?

With Witt's retirement, the Colts will now be looking for a new starting right tackle. The team has several options, including veteran Demar Dotson and second-year player Will Holden. The Colts could also look to the free agent market or the NFL Draft to fill the void.
